We're here for you
People may contact us for many reasons. Some are looking for information about Luke’s medical journey or guidance about GABRA1 or other GABRA-A–related disorders. Others may be searching for support from another family facing the same fear, confusion, or nonstop appointments, or they may want to help through donations, fundraising, or spreading awareness. We also hear from people who want to collaborate on advocacy, share medical resources, or connect us with specialists who might help Luke and other children like him.
And sometimes, it’s not about medical answers at all. Sometimes a parent just needs someone to talk to. Fathers often feel expected to be the cornerstone of the family, the one who stays steady, unbreakable, even when everything around them feels overwhelming. That pressure gets heavy. The anger, sadness, and helplessness that come with watching your child struggle can be isolating and exhausting. If a dad needs a conversation or someone who understands what that weight feels like, I’m here. Nobody should have to carry that alone.
The same is true for mothers who are doing everything they can to hold their family together while coping with their own fear and exhaustion. Grandparents often reach out too, trying to understand what their family is facing and wanting to help in any way they can, even while carrying their own heartache. And siblings feel this journey in ways people sometimes overlook, dealing with worry, questions, and the emotional ripple effects that come from watching their brother or sister face challenges no child should have to face.
If any family member needs support, a conversation, or simply someone who understands what these days feel like, they’re welcome to reach out. We’re all in this together, and nobody in the GABRA1 and GABRA-A community should ever feel isolated.
